Honda CB300F "Noise in motor"

A clients Honda CB300 was making a loud clunking and tapping noise, so they gave us a call. We came onsite and it was certainly as advertised "very loud". Upon investigation it was discovered the cam chain tensioner's internal spring had failed, the noise was the cam chain loose and slapping the guides inside.

A loose cam chain can lead to the engine timing being out and can cause major damage to the motor. This was caught in the nic of time. The bike was repaired and back to the client within the week - whilst we were inside with the rocker cover off we also checked the valve clearances.

If you need a Mobile Motorbike Mechanic around the Newcastle area call us today. Or come and see us at our workshop in Thornton - near Maitland NSW.
